You just reeled in the halibut of a lifetime in Alaska… now what?

Don’t stress about getting your fish home—we’ve got you covered. With years of commercial fishing experience, Captain Lucas fillets every fish with precision so you lose almost nothing and take home the maximum amount of meat. Here’s exactly how our processing and shipping service works so you can relax on vacation and enjoy restaurant-quality halibut months later.

Step 1: Professional Filleting by Captain Lucas

Once your halibut is off the boat, Captain Lucas fillets it right on the dock. You can expect roughly half the live weight returned to you as beautiful, boneless fillets.

  • Cut into convenient ½- to 1-pound portions
  • Flash-frozen to lock in freshness
  • Sealed in commercial-grade vacuum bags to prevent freezer burn

Step 2: We Handle Everything While You’re Still on Vacation

No need to lug coolers through airports or worry about your catch. Simply fill out our shipping form with your address and preferred delivery date. We schedule shipments the week after your charter (or the following week depending on flight space and weather).

Here’s the timeline most guests can expect:

  • Your fish stays frozen in our freezer until shipment.
  • We ship through Alaska Seaplanes, where your fish is held frozen until the next FedEx pickup.
  • FedEx picks up approximately three times per week from Juneau.
  • Door-to-door delivery in the Lower 48 typically takes 24–36 hours.

Cost Estimator (Per Fish – Live Weight)

Prices listed are estimates and are almost always lower once we process your actual catch. We charge only for the exact filleted weight.

Note: A 3% credit-card processing fee applies. If you catch multiple fish, we recommend combining them into one shipment box to save money.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long until my fish arrives?

Most shipments arrive 7–14 days after your charter, plus 24–36 hours for transit once shipped.

Will it still be frozen?

Yes. We ship your fish in heavy-duty insulated boxes. If there is extra space, gel packs are added to ensure everything stays frozen solid during transit.

What if the weather delays flights?

No problem. We simply keep your fish safely frozen and rebook the shipment at no additional charge. Safety always comes first.

Can I ship to Canada or internationally?

At this time we ship within the United States only.
