Fresh water Stream Fishing

If you want to get in some freshwater fishing with the possibility of bear watching at the same time, then this is the trip for you.

Our stream fishing trip involves meeting our guests at the Excursion Hub at Ice Strait Point. Guest will board a passenger van for a scenic drive through the town of Hoonah as you make your way to the wilds of Southeast Alaska’s rainforest beauty.

Wildlife Viewing Opportunities, have your camera ready!

Depending on fish runs, a drive of 20-40 minutes will take you to your fishing destination. The scenic trail alone is worth the price for excursion!.  You will follow the same single-lane logging roads the cruise-line sponsored bear tours travel and as such, will experience the same Brown Bear and other wildlife viewing opportunities as other cruise-line passengers.  Have your camera ready!

As with everything in the wilds of Alaska, the fish runs are wild and seasonal. You can expect to catch Dolly Varden Char and Cutthroat trout throughout the summer season. Pink and Chum Salmon run from late June through September, and Silver Salmon from late August through October. This is strictly a catch and release fishery, so that we can preserve our valuable resource for years to come.

Bring warm clothes!  While we have waders that keep your lower half dry, you will want a good rain coat and a warm layer underneath in the even of inclement weather. All fishing gear and tackle is provided. We will be fishing with spinning rods, though we will have a few fly rods on hand if that is your preference
